| CD-ROM 2nd Edition Overview |
| | Words of the Pioneers (2nd Ed.) contains over 33,000 pages of early SDA writings. It is the only electronic source of most of these writings. It is a hybrid CD-ROM, working either on IBM compatables running Windows, or on Macintosh computers. All words are indexed and searchable with the included software program, version 3.1 of FolioVIEWS. Each pioneer has a picture at the beginning of his works. As shown below, the pioneer writings are in one infobase (.nfo), with three other infobases on the CD-ROM, containing the KJV Bible, d'Aubigné's reformation history, and recent SDA authors. |

| Special Notice for Macintosh Users |
| | Macintosh users who purchase the last Mac version of the E. G. White CD-ROM will find a special release of our Second Edition collection included on the CD. Be aware that this Mac version runs on the Folio program which is still a classic OS 9 program, as Folio has not produced an OS X version. This will not run under any version of Mac OS X, or on an Mac with an Intel processor. |
| Second Edition Support Issue: Installation Problems? |
| | At times the 2nd Edition installation process fails if you are attempting to copy the entire CD-ROM to your hard disk, due to the size of the files on the CD-ROM. There are several work-around options. Two are explained on this special instruction file. (You will need Adobe Acrobat to view this file. See our Feedback page, Download section, if you need Acrobat.) |
| Second Edition Support Issue: Don't Want Hidden Codes? |
| | When you copy paragraphs out of the Second Edition CD-ROM and paste them into a document, the hidden codes that are at the beginning of each paragraph come along. While these are useful to identify the source of an isolated paragraph, usually they are not wanted after being copied, especially if you wish to include a section of pioneer writings, or reprint an article, for example. We have created a simple instruction sheet to show you how to step-by-step strip these codes out using Microsoft Word's Find/Replace function. |
| Availability |
| | Please note that this Second Edition is no longer in stock for sale. If for some reason you wish to have any of our surplus "Special Edition" Second Edition CD-ROMs that contain simply the four infobases that were the content on this edition, please contact us for special arrangements. Three of the four collections on it (Pioneer authors, APL.NFO; the KJV Bible, BIBLE.NFO; and the Historical authors, HISTORY.NFO) have been superseded by the same or enhanced collection on the Ellen G. White Writings Comprehensive Research Edition CD-ROM. So these are best found there at present. The other collection of Recent authors (RECENT.NFO) is not found in the Recent authors collection on the new CD-ROM. Since this collection is still of value, we have decided to make it a free download. Note this is 7.4 MB in size! Download this file to see comments on this collection, with some instructions on downloading and accessing, as well as its bibliography (as listed above). Here is the direct link to the infobase file, RECENT.NFO. If your browser loads computer code into a browser window, be sure you read the instruction sheet to know how to handle it! |
