Words of the Adventist Pioneers 2008 (3rd Ed.)
CD-ROM

Thank you for your patience in waiting for our upcoming revised and updated CD-ROM!
We have finished data conversion/processing on about 30,000 pages of new material, and the new collection is
in it final stages of clean-up. Check out a list of the new titles as of 21 March 2008,
and a comparison of total pages as (of December 2007) with the 2nd Edition.
The actual file size has almost tripled in comparison with the Second Edition, so number of pages do not tell the whole story!

Our new partnership with the Ellen G. White Estate, in which they will produce and market our CD-ROM, is opening up doors
to make the pioneer writings even more accessible. The collection will be available in three ways:
1. Bundled in the Ellen G. White Writings, Comprehensive Research Edition 2008 CD-ROM. You should plan
to buy this if you need the latest EGW writings as well.
2. In the stand-alone Words of the Adventist Pioneers 2008 CD-ROM. You should plan to buy this if you have
the EGW writings already.
3. Through internet access and search. We will post the web link for this service when available.

Included with the Words of the Adventist Pioneers 2008 collection will be the following in Folio format:
1. Noah Webster's 1828 American Dictionary, to check out definitions of words the pioneers used.
2. Historical works by d'Aubigne, Edersheim, Fox, Luther, and Wylie.
3. The KJV Bible

We thank God for His providence!

CD-ROM

CD-ROM 2nd Edition Overview
Words of the Pioneers (2nd Ed.) contains over 33,000 pages of early SDA writings. It is the only electronic source of most of these writings. It is a hybrid CD-ROM, working either on IBM compatables running Windows, or on Macintosh computers. All words are indexed and searchable with the included software program, version 3.1 of FolioVIEWS. Each pioneer has a picture at the beginning of his works. As shown below, the pioneer writings are in one infobase (.nfo), with three other infobases on the CD-ROM, containing the KJV Bible, d'Aubigné's reformation history, and recent SDA authors.

Pioneer Gallery and Biographical Sketches
Our Gallery Page has photos of the pioneer authors listed above, as well as brief biographical sketches.
Cost $59.95
The CD-ROM cost about $1.35 per page to publish. It initially sold for $195, which was less than half a cent per page! But as of June 29, 2000, the price has been reduced to $59.95 in anticipation of our Third Edition CD-ROM.
NOTICE: We have exhausted our inventory of this CD-ROM. We encourage you to purchase the Special Release noted below if your needs are urgent. If you do not have the E. G. White CD-ROM, and still urgently need the Second Edition, please contact us.
Special Release $39.95
We are currently offering a Special Release of our Second Edition CD-ROM. This release is designed for users of the new Ellen G. White CD-ROM which has the Folio 4.2 search engine. The special release CD-ROM does not have search software. It is accessed by using the EGW search engine to search and browse the APL infobases. Some customizable functions do not work in this set-up. How to Order
  See Feedback for ordering.
Special Notice for Macintosh Users
Macintosh users who purchase the current Mac version of the E. G. White CD-ROM will find a special release of our Second Edition collection included on the CD. Be aware that this Mac version runs on the Folio program which is still a classic OS 9 program, as Folio has not produced an OS X version. Mac users may want to e-mail the company that owns Folio, FAST, to request that they produce an OS X version.
Online CD-ROM
We have not gotten our Second Edition CD-ROM back online to be accessible for internet searching. But we plan to have our new CD-ROM edition available online through the E. G. White Estate! We appreciate your patience.
Second Edition Support Issue: Installation Problems?
At times the 2nd Edition installation process fails if you are attempting to copy the entire CD-ROM to your hard disk, due to the size of the files on the CD-ROM. There are several work-around options. Two are explained on this special instruction file. (You will need Adobe Acrobat to view this file. See our Feedback page, Download section, if you need Acrobat.)
Second Edition Support Issue: Don't Want Hidden Codes?
When you copy paragraphs out of the Second Edition CD-ROM and paste them into a document, the hidden codes that are at the beginning of each paragraph come along. While these are useful to identify the source of an isolated paragraph, usually they are not wanted after being copied, especially if you wish to include a section of pioneer writings, or reprint an article, for example. We have created a simple instruction sheet to show you how to step-by-step strip these codes out using Microsoft Word's Find/Replace function.
