Reanimation

And will the Judge descend?

1

Millennial Harp (1843), Part II, printed p. 34 (PDF 110). Two staves (Treble, which carries two
voices on one stem and the printed verse, and Bass); C major, 2/2, fifteen bars in three systems of
five. The music sets four verse lines and then repeats the fourth: «His all discerning eyes?» is sung
twice (the second time over the last three bars).

1

And will the Judge descend?
And must the dead arise?
And not a single soul escape
His all discerning eyes?
His all discerning eyes?

2

How will my heart endure
The terrors of that day,
When earth and heaven before his face,
Astonished, shrink away?

3

But ere the trumpet shakes
The mansions of the dead,
Hark! from the gospel's cheering sound
What joyful tidings spread!

4

Ye sinners, see his grace,
Whose wrath ye cannot bear;
Flee to the shelter of his cross,
And find salvation there
