He comes, he comes, the Judge severe,

1

Millennial Harp (1843), Part II, printed p. 70 (PDF 146). Two staves: Treble (the melody, with the
words printed under it) and Bass; G major, 2/4. The whole hymn is on this one page: the first stanza
is printed between the staves, stanzas 2–4 as verse below the music. The four lines of each stanza
are sung to measures 1–17; the refrain «Welcome, welcome, …» (measures 18–25, marked «Adagio.» from
its last line) is printed in full only with stanza 1 and abbreviated «Welcome, &c.» after the others.

1

He comes, he comes, the Judge severe,
The seventh Trumpet speaks him near ;
His lightnings flash, His thunders roll—
He's welcome to the faithful soul.
Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome,
Welcome to the faithful soul.

2

Descending on his azure throne
He claims the kingdoms as his own.
The kingdoms all obey his word,
And hail him as their triumphant Lord.—Welcome, &c.

3

Shout, all ye angels of the sky,
And all the saints of the Most High:
Our God, who now his right obtains,
For ever and forever reigns!—Welcome, &c.

4

The Father praise, the Son adore,
The Spirit bless for evermore:
Salvation's glorious work is done ;
We welcome thee, great Three in One!—Welcome, &c
