Music
Pioneer Hymnals
The hymns the Advent believers sang, transcribed from the original editions: the words, the music as printed and in a singing key, and new recordings you can follow along with.
About these pages
Faithful to the print. Each hymn was transcribed from a scan of the original book and checked against it. Line breaks, spelling and punctuation follow the printed page; a note on each hymn records anything unusual in the original layout.
Two versions of the music. The score as printed keeps the original key and voicing. The singing key version moves the tune to a comfortable range for congregational singing; both can be downloaded as PDF or MusicXML.
Recordings. Piano (and, for the Millennial Harp, organ) recordings play the melody as printed for one stanza, the whole hymn, and the singing-key version, so a group can learn a tune it has never heard.
