⤢ Full screenAgain our earthly cares we leave,
And to Thy courts repair;
Again with joyful feet we haste,
To meet our Saviour there.
Great Shepherd of thy people, here
Thy presence now display:
We bow within thy house of prayer;
O give us hearts to pray!
The clouds which vail thee from our sight,
In pity, Lord, remove;
Dispose our minds to hear aright
The message of thy love.
The feeling heart, the melting eye,
The humble mind, bestow;
And shine upon us from above,
To make our graces grow.
About this hymn
As printed Header as printed: «7 MANOAH. C. M. Francis J. Haydn.» (the tune name in bold capitals, the composer in small capitals at the right). Stanza 1 is set between the staves (numbered «1.», one verse line per system; «Thy» is capitalised there); the italic cross-reference line «201, 204, 183.» (= the same words may be sung to the tunes of hymns 201, 204 or 183) stands under the music, and stanzas 2–4 follow as text in the left column, numbered 2–4, ending with «John Newton.» in italics. Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print. The period's space before «:», «;» and «!» is not reproduced (parent normalisation, the convention of the other hymnals).
