⤢ Full screenThou dear Redeemer, dying Lamb,
I love to hear of thee;
No music 's like thy charming name,
Nor half so sweet can be.
O let me ever hear thy voice
In mercy to me speak;
In thee, my Priest, will I rejoice,
And thy salvation seek.
My Jesus shall be still my theme
While in this world I stay;
I 'll sing my Jesus' lovely name
While all things else decay.
When I appear in yonder cloud,
With all thy favored throng,
Then will I sing more sweet, more loud,
And Christ shall be my song.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «122», reference line «546, 308, 395.» in italics (sing to the tune of hymn 546, 308 or 395); stanzas 1–4 in the right column of p. 44 below hymn 121, «John Cennick.» in italics at the end. The first word «THOU» is set in capitals and small capitals. «music 's» (stanza 1) and «I 'll» (stanza 3) are printed with a gap between the word and the apostrophe, and are reproduced so (as in HT_0026, HT_0029, HT_0098). The print sets a thin space before «;» («thee ;», «speak ;», «stay ;»); it is closed up here. The printer's curly apostrophes are written straight. Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print. Spelling («favored»), punctuation and capitals are the print's. No meter is printed (the text is C. M., 8.6.8.6).
