⤢ Full screenTo us a Child of hope is born;
To us a Son is given;
Him shall the tribes of earth obey,
Him all the hosts of heaven.
His name shall be the Prince of peace,
Forevermore adored,
The Wonderful, the Counselor,
The great and mighty Lord!
His power increasing still shall spread,
His reign no end shall know;
Justice shall guard his throne above,
And peace abound below.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «290», reference line «111, 114, 147.» in italics (sing to the tune of hymn 111, 114 or 147); the hymn stands in the right column of p. 94 below the end of hymn 289, «John Morrison.» in italics at the end. Unlike 289, the first word «To» is set in ordinary type (no small capitals). The print sets a thin space before «;» and «!» («born ;», «given ;», «Lord !», «know ;»); it is closed up here. Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print. Spelling («Counselor»), punctuation and capitals («Child», «Son», «Prince of peace», «Wonderful», «Counselor») are the print's. No meter is printed (the text is C. M., 8.6.8.6).
