Ah! guilty sinner, ruined by transgression
Ah! guilty sinner, ruined by transgression,What will thy doom be when arrayed in terrorGod shall command thee, covered with pollution,"Up to the judgment, up to the judgment?"
Oft he has called thee, but thou would'st not hear him;Mercies and judgments have alike been slighted;Yet he is gracious, and with arms unfoldedWaits to embrace you.
But if you trifle with his gracious message,Cleave to the world, and love its guilty pleasures,Mercy, grown weary, will in righteous judgmentLeave you forever.
Then you shall call, but he will not regard you;Seek for his favor, yet will never find it;Cry to the rocks to hide you from his presenceDeep in their caverns.
O! guilty sinner, hear the voice of warning;Fly to the Saviour, and embrace his pardon:So shall you meet him, and with joy triumphant,Coming to judgment.
