1

Jesus, my all, to heaven is gone,He whom I fix my hopes upon; His track I see, and I'll pursueThe narrow way, till him I view.

2

The way the holy prophets went,The road that leads from banishment,The King's highway of holiness,I'll go; for all his paths are peace.

3

This is the way I long have sought,And mourned because I found it not;My grief a burden long has been,Because I was not saved from sin.

4

Lo! glad I come, and thou, blest Lamb,Shalt take me to thee, whose I am;Nothing but sin have I to give,Nothing but love shall I receive.

5

Then will I tell to all around,What a dear Saviour I have found;I'll point to thy redeeming blood,And say, "Behold the way to God."

About this hymn

As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «436» (large) at the foot of the left column of p. 142, below hymn 435's «Philip Doddridge.», with the reference line «538, 171, 108.» in bold italic figures on the same line (= sing to the tune of hymn 538, 171 or 108). Stanzas 1–3 stand in the left column; stanzas 4–5 continue at the top of the right column (beside the music's reference line and stanzas 2–3 of hymn 435), followed by «John Cennick.» in italics. The first word «JESUS» is set in capitals and small capitals. The print sets a thin space before «;» («upon ;», «am ;», «found ;»); it is closed up here. The opening quote of stanza 5 line 4 is printed as a turned double comma followed by a space («" Behold»); quotes and apostrophes are written straight. Stanza lines are flush (no indentation). No meter is printed (the text is L. M., 8.8.8.8). Spelling («Saviour»), punctuation and capitals are the print's.
