I lay my sins on Jesus,The spotless Lamb of God;He bears them all, and frees usFrom the accursed load.

I lay my wants on Jesus,All fullness dwells in him,He healeth my diseases,He doth my soul redeem.

I lay my griefs on Jesus,My burdens and my cares; He from them all releases,He all my sorrow shares.

I long to be like Jesus,Meek, loving, lowly, mild;I long to be like Jesus,The Father's holy child.

About this hymn

As printed As printed: running head «THE SINNER—REPENTANCE AND ACCEPTANCE.»; hymn number «461» (large), tune name «MARIETTA. 7s & 6s.» centred over the music (condensed capitals and small capitals), «J. E. WHITE.» at the right (capitals and small capitals); printed vertically in the left margin, reading upward, «Copyrighted 1878» (beside system 2) «by J. E. White,» (beside system 1, with a comma). Stanza 1 is interlinear, between the staves, one line per system, with «1.» before «I». Stanzas 2–4 are printed as text in the left column below the music, under the reference line «492, 246, 357.» in italics (= the words may also be sung to the tunes of hymns 492, 246 or 357), followed by «Horatius Bonar.» in italics. The print sets a thin space before «;» and, in stanza 2, before the comma of «him ,»; it is closed up here. The worn «e» of «relcases» (stanza 3) is read «releases». Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print. Spelling («fullness»), punctuation and capitals are the print's.
