1

There is sweet rest for feet now weary,In the rugged, upward way; There is a morn when midnight drearyShall be lost in perfect day.

2

For that blest morn our hearts are longing,When shall end earth's night of woe; When, thro' those pearly portals thronging,Mortal cares we'll leave below.

3

Soon to that city, bright, eternal,Weary pilgrims all shall go;Soon we shall rest in pastures vernal,Where life's waters ceaseless flow.

4

Father above, in mercy guide usTo those mansions of the blest;Safe in the Rock of Ages hide usTill we gain our final rest.

E. Belden.» in italics at the end. The stanza numbers of the text stanzas are printed without a full stop («2 For»); they are numbered «2.» here like stanza 1. Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print. «thro'» is the print's. The printer's thin space before «;» (e.g. «blest ;») is closed up here.
