⤢ Full screenThough love may weep with breaking heart,There comes, O Christ, a day of thine! There is a morning star must shine,And all those shadows shall depart.
Though faith may droop and tremble here,That day of light shall surely come; His path will lead him safely home; When twilight breaks, the dawn is near.
Though hope seem now to hope in vain,And Death, seem king of all below,There yet shall come the morning glow,And wake our slumbers once again.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «931» (large) at the head of the right column of p. 313, beside the text stanzas of hymn 930, with the italic reference line «926, 932.» beside it (= sing to the tunes of hymns 926 PROTECTION or 932 FEDERAL STREET, both L. M.); three stanzas of four lines, numbered «1»–«3» without periods (written «1.»–«3.» here, as in the other deliveries of this book); in each stanza lines 1 and 4 stand at the margin and lines 2 and 3 are indented (the rhyme is a-b-b-a). The first line of stanza 1 is broken for width («1 THOUGH love may weep with breaking / heart,») and is joined here. The first word «THOUGH» is set in capitals and small capitals (written «Though» here). «Anon.» in italics, right-aligned, at the foot of the column. No meter is printed (the text is L. M., 8.8.8.8, like the two reference tunes). The print sets a thin space before «!» and «;» («thine !», «come ;», «home ;»); it is closed up here. «Death» is capitalised in stanza 3 and the comma after it («And Death, seem king of all below,») is the print's. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's.
