Hold up thy light, O child of grace

  • No. 1037
  • Words Anon.
  • 4 stanzas
  • Words only in the original
1

Hold up thy light, O child of grace!Be not afraid to let it shineOn all around, but rather fearTo hide this precious light divine.

2

Hold up thy light! Thou canst not tell,However feeble be its ray,But some poor soul may catch its beam,And by it find the narrow way.

3

Hold up thy light with steady hand,Though it be faint! Who does not know,Where darkness reigns, how far and clearEven a little light will show?

4

Hold up thy light! 'Tis God's command,And till with thee time cease to roll,His voice thou canst not disobeyBut at the peril of thy soul.
