1

All things are thine; no gift have we,Lord of all gifts! to offer thee; And hence, with grateful hearts to-day,Thine own, before thy feet we lay.

2

Thy will was in the builders' thought;Thy hand unseen amidst us wrought;Through mortal motive, scheme, and plan,Thy wise, eternal purpose ran.

3

No lack thy perfect fullness knew; For human needs and longings grewThis house of prayer—this home of rest:Here may thy saints be often blessed.

4

In weakness and in want we callOn thee, for whom the heavens are small;Thy glory is thy children's good,Thy joy thy tender fatherhood.

5

O Father! deign these walls to bless,Make this the abode of righteousness,And let these doors a gateway beTo lead us from ourselves to thee.

About this hymn

As printed As printed: running head «THE CHURCH—DEDICATION.»; hymn number «1128» (large), tune name «WARE. L. M.» centred over the music, «George Kingsley.» at the right (capitals and small capitals). Stanza 1 is interlinear, between the staves, one line per system, with «1.» before «All»: «of - fer» and «be-fore» are printed in syllables and joined here; «grateful» is printed whole under two notes; «to-day,» keeps its printed hyphen. Stanzas 2–5 are printed as text in the left column below the music, under the italic reference line «223, 47, 23,» (= the words may also be sung to the tunes of hymns 223, 47 or 23, all L. M.; the line ends with a comma in the print, and its 3s are read as 3s although this scan draws them like 8s — see uncertainties.md). The stanza numbers of the text stanzas are printed without a full stop («2 Thy»); they are numbered «2.» here like stanza 1. The lines of each stanza are set flush (not indented). «Anon.» in italics after stanza 5. The printer's thin space before «;», «:» and «!» («thine ;», «thought ;», «rest :», «Father !») is closed up here, and the curly apostrophes are written straight («builders'», «children's»). Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's. Handwriting of this exemplar in the margin («Song chosen by Mother for Dedication of Boulder Church») is not part of the print and is not transcribed here.
