About this hymn

As printed As printed: hymn number «1180» (large), tune name «WILL YOU MEET US?» centred over the music (condensed capitals and small capitals), «SLAVE MELODY,» at the right (the final mark has a short tail; see uncertainties.md); no meter and no reference line. Stanza 1 is interlinear on the one system, in two lines in braces with «1.» before them: «Say, broth-ers, will you meet us? Say, broth-ers, will you meet us?» (first time through, with the first ending «1st.») and «Say, broth-ers, will you meet us (omit.) . . . . .» (second time: «(omit.)» in italics = leave out the first ending), with «On Canaan's hap - py shore?» right of the closing brace, under the second ending «2d.». Stanza 1 is written below in the order sung; «broth-ers», «hap - py» as whole words. Stanzas 2–5 follow as text in two columns, numbered «2»–«5» without a full stop (numbered «2.»–«5.» here like stanza 1); line 4 of each stanza is indented in the print. «Anon.» in bold italics at the foot of the right column. The print sets a thin space before «?» («us ?», «shore ?») and before the apostrophe of «we 'll» (stanza 3, line 1); they are closed up here. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's.
