⤢ Full screenO Christian! have you heard it?He's coming soon;Though thousands have deferred it,He's coming soon.Let not thy heart grow weary,He's coming soon;Morn follows midnight dreary,He's coming soon.Leave all earth's sinful pleasures,He's coming soon;Lay up in heav'n your treasures,He's coming soon.
Does now thy heart believe it?He's coming soon;Do you with joy receive it?He's coming soon.Prize not this world's possessions,He's coming soon;Trust not to vain professions,He's coming soon.Work on, with zeal increasing,He's coming soon;Pray always, without ceasing,He's coming soon.
O day of joy and gladness! He's coming soon;O day of gloom and sadness! He's coming soon.It may be night or morning,He's coming soon;Do not reject the warning,He's coming soon. Are you prepared to meet him? He's coming soon; Can you look up and greet him? He's coming soon.
About this hymn
As printed As printed on p. 533 (PDF 534), under the last system of hymn 1321: hymn number «1322» (large) at the left, title «He's Coming Soon.» centred (condensed capitals and small capitals: «H», «C», «S» full capitals); under it the epigraph in three lines of roman, full width, with the two omissions marked «* *» (given below); on the next line «F. E. BELDEN.» at the left (the words) and «F. E. BELDEN.» at the right (the music), both in capitals and small capitals; «Allegretto.» in italic over the first system. No meter, no tune name other than the title, no reference line. The three stanzas are interlinear between the staves of all four systems, numbered «1.»–«3.»; there is no chorus and no stanza below the music. Under the music, centred: «Copyrighted 1886 by F. E. Belden.». The verse lines are given one per line by the meter and the rhymes (7 and 4 syllables: «heard it?» / «He's coming soon;» …); the words divided under the notes are joined («Chris-tian», «be-lieve», «glad-ness», «com-ing», «thou-sands», «de-ferred», «re-ceive», «sad-ness», «wea-ry», «pos-ses-sions», «morn-ing», «re-ject», «sin-ful», «in-creas-ing», «ceas-ing»), and «pre- / pared», broken by the end of system 3, is joined — the divisions are in `lyrics_syllables.txt`. The print sets a thin space before «;», «?» and «!» and around the colon of the reference; it is closed up here; the apostrophes are written straight («He's», «earth's», «heav'n», «world's»). Spelling, capitals and punctuation are the print's. The reference of the epigraph is printed «2 Pet. 2 : 3–14.» although the words are from 2 Peter 3 (verses 3–4, 10, 14); it is kept as printed (see uncertainties.md).
