We shall sing, sometime,We shall sing, sometime,Where the heart is never sad,Where the dwellers all are glad;In that happy, Eden clime,We shall meet, sometime.

We shall join the angel throngSometime, sometime; We shall raise a joyful songThrough the endless ages long,—We shall sing, sometime,Sometime, sometime.

We shall see the city fair,Sometime, sometime; We shall dwell forever there,Free from sorrow, sin and care,In the glad sometime,Sometime, sometime.

4

We shall meet to part no more,Sometime, sometime; On that blest immortal shore,Where the reign of death is o'er,We shall meet, sometime,Sometime, sometime.

In that bright, eternal day,—Sometime, sometime;Tears shall all be wiped away,And we nevermore shall say"We shall sing, sometime,"Sometime, sometime.

About this hymn

As printed As printed: hymn number «1374» (large, left), title «SOMETIME.» centred (condensed capital and small capitals, «Sometime.»); under it, centred in two lines, the epigraph «"The ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads."—Isa. 30 : 10.» (old-style figures; the words are Isaiah 35:10 — «30» is a printer's slip, kept as printed); on the next line «F. E. BELDEN.» at the left (the words) and «D. S. HAKES.» at the right (the music), capitals and small capitals. No meter, no tune name other than the title, no reference line. All five stanzas are interlinear, numbered «1.»–«5.», between the staves of systems 1–2; each printed line of words carries three verse lines, given here one verse line per line. Under the bass staff of system 1, once, the echo «Sometime, sometime;» for tenor and bass (sung in every stanza, after the second verse line). «REFRAIN.» (bold capitals) stands over system 3; the refrain words are printed once, under systems 3–4. No stanza is printed as text under the music. Words printed with syllable hyphens («Some-time», «cit - y», «nev-er-more», «hap-py», «E - den») are joined here. Stanza 3 prints «sorrow ,» with a space before the comma: closed up here. Under the music, centred: «By permission O. Ditson & Co.». The print's thin spaces before «;» are closed up; curly quotes and apostrophes are written straight. Spelling and punctuation are the print's.
