Words

1.
Jesus! thou art the sinner's Friend,
As such I look to thee
Now in the bowels of thy love,
Oh, Lord! remember me.

Refrain

Refrain (D.C.):
Oh, Lord! remember me
Oh, Lord, remember me
Now in the bowels of thy love,
Oh, Lord! remember me.

2.
Remember thy pure word of grace,
Remember Calvary;
Remember all thy dying groans,
And then remember me.

3.
Thou wondrous Advocate with God!
I yield myself to thee;
While thou art sitting on thy throne,
Oh, Lord! remember me.

4.
I own I'm guilty, own I'm vile,
Yet thy salvation's free:
Then, in thy all-abounding grace,
Oh, Lord! remember me.

5.
Howe'er forsaken or distressed,
Howe'er oppressed I be,
Howe'er afflicted here on earth,
Do thou remember me.

6.
And when I close my eyes in death,
And creature helps all flee,
Then, oh my great Redeemer, God!
I pray, remember me.

About this hymn

As printed Millennial Harp (1843), Part I, printed page 42 (PDF page 46). Stanza 1 and the refrain are printed as two text lines under the treble staff; the refrain is the text sung on the D.C. (the whole tune again). Under the third system both text lines are identical. Stanzas 2–6 are printed as verse below the music. Words read from the print at 600 dpi and compared with an independent Grok-vision reading (no divergence). Spelling and punctuation exactly as printed; the rows of dots after «thee» / «me» under the music (held notes) are not part of the words and are omitted here (they are kept in lyrics_syllables.txt). The printer's thin spaces before «!», «;» and «:» in stanzas 2–6 are not reproduced here.
