⤢ Full screenMillennial Harp (1843), Part II, printed pp. 46–47 (PDF 122–123). Two staves (treble with the words,
bass); F major, 2/4. The first strain carries **two** interlinear lines joined by a brace — the first
and second couplets of stanza 1, sung to the same music, which is why the strain is closed by a repeat
(‖ … :‖). After it the printer sets **Chorus.** over the staff; the chorus and the closing section are
printed with a single line of words, sung the same way after every stanza.
Jerusalem, my happy home,
O how I long for thee!
When will my sorrows have an end,
Thy joys when shall I see?
*Chorus.* We're marching thro' Immanuel's ground,
We soon shall hear the trumpet sound,
And then we shall our Jesus meet,
And never, never part again.
What, never part again?
No, never part again;
But there we shall our Jesus meet,
And never, never part again.
Thy walls are all of precious stone,
Most glorious to behold;
Thy gates are richly set with pearl,
Thy streets are paved with gold.
Thy garden and thy pleasant walks
My study long have been;
Such dazzling views by human sight
Have never yet been seen.
If heaven be thus glorious, Lord,
Why should I stay from thence.
What folly's this that I should dread
To die, and go from hence.
Reach down, O Lord, thine arm of grace,
And cause me to ascend,
Where congregations ne'er break up,
And Sabbaths never end.
When we've been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we first begun.
