Let the Creator's praise arise;
Let his almighty name be sung,
Through every land, by every tongue.
Eternal are thy mercies, Lord,
Eternal truth attends thy word;
Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore,
Till suns shall rise and set no more.
Your lofty themes, ye mortals, bring,
In songs of praise divinely sing;
God's great salvation loud proclaim,
And shout for joy his glorious name.
In every land begin the song,
To every land the strains belong;
In cheerful sounds all voices raise,
And fill the world with loudest praise.
About this hymn
As printed As printed: hymn number «23», tune name «ANGELS. L. M.» centred over the music, «ORLANDO GIBBONS.» at the right (capitals and small capitals), running head «WORSHIP—PRAISE AND REVERENCE OF GOD.». Stanza 1 is interlinear, between the staves, one line per system, with «1.» before «From»; the print sets it «be - low», «Cre - a - tor's», «a - rise;», «almight - y», «ev-ery» (first time, closed up) and «ev - ery» (second time). Stanzas 2–4 are printed as text in the left column below the music, under the reference line «1, 168, 215.» (= may also be sung to the tunes of hymns 1, 168 or 215); «Isaac Watts.» in italics after stanza 4. The print sets a thin space before «;» («word ;», «sing ;», «belong ;»); it is closed up here. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's; the text stanzas are set flush (no indented lines). No punctuation after «skies» at the end of line 1 (as printed under the staves).
