Words
⤢ Full screenCome, thou almighty King,
Help us thy name to sing,
Help us to praise.
Father all-glorious,
O'er all victorious,
Come, and reign over us,
Ancient of Days.
Come, thou incarnate Word,
Gird on thy mighty sword,
Our prayer attend;
Come and thy people bless,
And give thy word success;
Spirit of holiness,
On us descend.
Come, holy Comforter,
Thy sacred witness bear
In this glad hour:
Thou who almighty art,
Rule now in every heart,
And ne'er from us depart,
Spirit of power.
Thou art the mighty One,
On earth thy will be done,
From shore to shore.
Thy sovereign majesty
May we in glory see,
And through eternity
Love and adore.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «36», reference line «155, 127, 684.» in italics (sing to the tune of hymn 155, 127 or 684 — the 6s & 4s tunes; AMERICA, hymn 34, is on the same page), four numbered stanzas in the right column of p. 16, «Charles Wesley.» in italics at the end. The first word «COME» is set in small capitals. The print sets a thin space before «;» and «:» («attend ;», «success ;», «hour :»); it is closed up here. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's; lines 3 and 7 of each stanza are indented (6s & 4s form, 6.6.4.6.6.6.4). No meter is printed. Read by the parent session (the fork assigned to the page was cut off by an API error before writing this hymn).
