⤢ Full screenThe Lord is King! lift up thy voice,
O earth, and all ye heavens, rejoice!
From world to world the joy shall ring,
The Lord omnipotent is King!
The Lord is King! child of the dust,
The Judge of all the earth is just,
Holy and true are all his ways;
Let every creature speak his praise.
He reigns! ye saints, exalt your strains,
Your God is King, your Father reigns;
And he is at the Father's side,
The man of love, the Crucified.
Come, make your wants, your burdens known,
He will present them at the throne;
And angel bands are waiting there,
His messages of love to bear.
O when his wisdom can mistake,
His might decay, his love forsake,
Then may his children cease to sing,
The Lord omnipotent is King!
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «62», reference line «212, 336, 54.» in italics (sing to the tune of hymn 212, 336 or 54), stanzas 1–4 in the left column of p. 24 below hymn 61, stanza 5 at the top of the right column, «Josiah Conder.» in italics at the end. The first word «THE» is set in capitals and small capitals. The first line of stanza 4 is too long for the column: «known,» runs over to a second, indented printed line; it is joined here. The print sets a thin space before «!» and «;» («King !», «rejoice !», «ways ;», «He reigns !», «reigns ;», «throne ;»); it is closed up here. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's; the lines of each stanza are set flush (no indentation). No meter is printed (the text is L. M., 8.8.8.8).
