⤢ Full screenHow gentle God's commands!
How kind his precepts are!
Come, cast your burdens on the Lord,
And trust his constant care.
Beneath his watchful eye
His saints securely dwell;
That hand which bears all nature up
Shall guard his children well.
Why should this anxious load
Press down your weary mind?
Haste to your heavenly Father's throne,
And sweet refreshment find.
His goodness stands approved
Through each sueceeding day:
I 'll drop my burden at his feet,
And bear a song away.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «91», reference line «151, 688, 191.» in italics (sing to the tune of hymn 151, 688 or 191); the four stanzas in the right column of p. 33 below hymn 90, «Philip Doddridge.» in italics at the end. The first word «HOW» is set in capitals and small capitals. «I 'll» is printed with a space before the apostrophe, is not reproduced (parent normalisation, the convention of the other hymnals).; straight apostrophes. «sueceeding» is printed so (a wrong letter for «succeeding»), kept as printed. The print sets a thin space before «!», «;», «?» and «:» («commands !», «are !», «dwell ;», «mind ?», «day :»); it is closed up here. Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's. No meter is printed (the text is S. M., 6.6.8.6).
