⤢ Full screenNature with open volume stands
To spread her Maker's praise abroad,
And every labor of his hands
Shows something worthy of a God;
But in the grace that rescues man
His brighter form of glory shines;
Here on the cross 't is fairest drawn
In precious blood and crimson lines.
O, the sweet wonders of that cross,
Where Christ, the Saviour, loved and died!
The noblest life my spirit draws
From his dear wounds and bleeding side.
I would forever speak his name
In tones to mortal ears unknown,
With angels join to praise the Lamb,
And worship at his Father's throne.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «107», reference line «136, 212; 47,» in italics (sing to the tune of hymn 136, 212 or 47 — the separators are the print's: a semicolon after 212 and a comma at the end), in the right column of p. 39 below hymn 106; «Isaac Watts.» in italics at the end. The first word «NATURE» is set in capitals and small capitals. The print sets a thin space before «;» and «!» («God ;», «shines ;», «died !»); it is closed up here. «Where Christ, the Saviour, loved and died!» turns over in the print («died!» alone on the next line); it is joined here. «'t is» is printed with a space and a curly apostrophe, written straight here. Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's. No meter is printed (the text is L. M., 8.8.8.8).
