⤢ Full screen'T was by an order from the Lord
The ancient prophets spoke his word;
His Spirit did their tongues inspire,
And warmed their hearts with heavenly fire.
Great God, mine eyes with pleasure look
On the dear volume of thy book;
There my Redeemer's face I see,
And read his name who died for me.
Let the false raptures of the mind
Be lost, and vanish in the wind;
Here I can fix my hope secure;
This is thy word, and must endure.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «172» (large) with the reference line «223.542, 592.» in italics beside it — with a full stop, not a comma, after «223» (kept as printed in `uncertainties.md`; sing to the tune of hymn 223, 542 or 592); the hymn stands at the foot of the left column of p. 61, below hymn 171, stanzas 1–3, «Isaac Watts.» in italics at the end. The first words «'T WAS» are set in capitals and small capitals, with a space after the «'T». The print sets a thin space before «;» («word ;», «book ;», «wind ;», «secure ;»); it is closed up here. The lines of each stanza are set flush (not indented). Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's. No meter is printed (the text is L. M., 8.8.8.8).
