⤢ Full screenBlessed Bible, how I love it!
How it doth my bosom cheer!
What hath earth like this to covet?
O, what stores of wealth are here!
'T is a fountain ever bursting,
Whence the weary may obtain
Water for the soul that's thirsting,
That it may not thirst again.
'T is a chart that never faileth,
One which God to man has given;
And though oft the storm assaileth,
It will guide you safe to heaven.
'T is a pearl of price exceeding
All the gems in ocean found;
And, its sacred precepts heeding,
So shall you in grace abound.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «194» (large) at the foot of the right column of p. 66, below hymn 193, then in italics and brackets «[Tune, Stockwell, No. 162.]» (sing to the tune STOCKWELL, hymn 162), then «8s & 7s.» in bold at the right (the final «s» a damaged sort). Four numbered stanzas, «Anon.» in italics at the end. The first word «BLESSED» is set in capitals and small capitals. «'T is» (stanzas 2–4) is set with a space after the «'T» and is kept so (as HT_0001, HT_0151, HT_0152); apostrophes straight. The print sets a thin space before «!», «?» and «;» («it !», «cheer !», «covet ?», «here !», «given ;», «found ;»); it is closed up here. Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's.
