⤢ Full screenSix days of toil and care,
I bid you all adieu;
And now, O peaceful Sabbath hours,
I gladly welcome you.
My heart with rapture turns
To Eden's vale so fair;
Then forward to the heavenly world,
And views the Sabbath there.
Sweet day of rest, through thee
Shall memory faithful prove
To him who made the earth and sea,
And starry worlds above.
Each Sabbath spent aright
Shall bring us nearer thee,
Till in that glorious land of light
We're made forever free.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «237» (large) with the reference line «89, 11, 151.» in italics beside it (sing to the tune of hymn 89, 11 or 151); the hymn stands in the left column of p. 79 below hymn 236, with «Anon.» in italics after stanza 4. The first word «SIX» is set in capitals and small capitals. The print sets a thin space before «;» («adieu ;», «fair ;»); it is closed up here. The printer's curly apostrophes are written straight («Eden's», «We're»). Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's. No meter is printed (the text is S. M., 6.6.8.6).
