Words
⤢ Full screenAlmighty Father, bless the word
Which through thy grace we now have heard;
O may the precious seed take root,
Spring up, and bear abundant fruit.
We praise thee for the means of grace,
Thus in thy courts to seek thy face;
Grant, Lord, that we who worship here
May all, at length, in heaven appear.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «263» (large) at the head of the right column of p. 87, below the music of 262, with the reference line «256, 223.» in bold italic figures beside it (sing to the tune of hymn 256 or 223); two stanzas of four lines, all lines flush left, and «Anon.» in italics after stanza 2. The first word «ALMIGHTY» is set in capitals and small capitals. The print sets a thin space before «;» («heard ;», «face ;»); it is closed up here. No meter is printed (the text is L. M., 8.8.8.8, like the referenced OLD HUNDRED and BURTON). Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's.
