⤢ Full screenOnce more before we part,
We'll bless the Saviour's name;
Record his mercies, every heart;
Sing, every tongue, the same.
Lord, in thy grace we came,
Thy blessing still impart;
We met in Jesus' sacred name,
In Jesus' name we part.
May we receive his word,
And feed thereon, and grow;
Go on to seek and know the Lord,
And practice what we know.
Soon shall we hear him say,
"Ye blessed children, come!"
Soon will he call us hence away
To our eternal home.
There shall each raptured tongue
His endless praise proclaim,
And sweeter voices tune the song
Of Moses and the Lamb.
About this hymn
As printed As printed: running head «WORSHIP—CLOSING HYMNS.»; hymn number «266» (large), tune name «NARES. S. M.» centred over the music (condensed capitals and small capitals), «JAMES NARES.» at the right (capitals and small capitals). Stanza 1 is interlinear, between the staves, one line per system, with «1.» before «Once» («be - fore», «Sav - iour's», «Re - cord», «mer - cies,», «ev - ery» hyphenated under the notes). Stanzas 2–5 are printed as text in the left column below the music, under the reference line «11, 85, 89.» in italics (= may also be sung to the tunes of hymns 11, 85 or 89). «Joseph Hart.» in italics after stanza 5. The print sets a thin space before «;» and «!» («impart ;», «grow ;», «come !»); it is closed up here. The printer's curly apostrophes and quotation marks are written straight («We'll», «Saviour's», «Jesus'», «"Ye blessed children, come!"»). Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's («Saviour», «practice»). Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print.
