If 't is sweet to mingle where

1

If 't is sweet to mingle where
Christians meet for social prayer,
If 't is sweet with them to raise
Songs of holy joy and praise,
O, how sweet that state must be,
Where they meet eternally!

2

Saviour, may these meetings prove
Preparations from above;
As we leave this sacred place,
May we go from grace to grace,
Till we each, in his degree,
Fit for endless glory be.

About this hymn

As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «276» (large), then in italics within square brackets «[Tune, Rock of Ages, No. 1114.]» (sing to the tune ROCK OF AGES, hymn 1114), then «7s. 6l.» in bold at the right (= sevens, six lines). Two numbered stanzas of six lines in the right column of p. 90 below hymn 275, «Anon.» in italics at the end. The first word «IF» is set in capitals and small capitals. «'t is» is printed with the apostrophe before the «t» and a thin space before «is» (the printer's curly apostrophe is written straight). The print sets a thin space before «!» and «;» («eternally !», «above ;»); it is closed up here. All lines of each stanza stand at the same margin, as printed. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's.
