⤢ Full screenGuide and guard us, O our Father,
Till another Sabbath-day;
Shield us with thy holy presence,
Lead us in the righteous way.
Now we thank thee for thy blessing
On this sacred day of rest,
And for truths which thou hast shown us
In thy word divinely blest.
Every day and every moment
We are safe if thou art near;
From all danger thou canst rescue,
In our sorrows thou canst cheer.
We will trust thy constant watch-care,
For thou knowest what is best;
O, forever guide and guard us,
Till we reach our final rest!
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: running head «WORSHIP—CLOSING HYMNS.»; hymn number «280» (large) with the reference line «162, 660, 960.» in italics beside it (sing to the tune of hymn 162, 660 or 960); the hymn stands at the top of the right column, beside hymn 277's stanzas, with «F. E. Belden.» in italics after the last stanza. The first word «GUIDE» is set in capitals and small capitals. The print sets a thin space before «;» and «!» («Sabbath-day ;», «near ;», «best ;», «rest !»); it is closed up here. Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's. No meter is printed (the text is 8s & 7s., 8.7.8.7, like the tunes of the reference line).
