⤢ Full screenBefore the throne of God aboveOur Intercessor stands;Pleads for his own with deathless love,With pierced and bleeding hands.
The barren rocks of CalvaryEchoed his dying cries,When Christ became, as sin for me,A wondrous Sacrifice.
Not yet may victors' songs be sungIn realms of endless light,Not yet the notes of triumph rungBy saints all robed in white.
Not yet do pilgrims' weary feetFind sweet abiding rest; But when redemption is complete,We'll dwell among the blest.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «352» (large) at the top of the right column of p. 116 (level with the reference line of hymn 350), with the italic reference line «354, 187.» (= sing to the tunes of hymns 354 or 187) beside the number; all four stanzas in the right column, numbered «1»–«4» (no period); «L. D. Santee.» in italics after stanza 4. The first word «BEFORE» is set in capitals and small capitals. Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print. The print sets a thin space before «;» («stands ;», «rest ;»); it is closed up here. Apostrophes are written straight («victors'», «pilgrims'», «We'll»). No meter is printed (the text is C. M., like the tunes referred to). Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's.
