⤢ Full screenInfinite Love! what precious storesThy mercy has prepared for us!The costliest gems, the richest ores,Could never have endowed us thus.
But thy soft hand, O gracious Lord,Can draw from suffering souls the sting; And thy rich bounty to our boardCan bread for hungering sinners bring.
How rich the grace! the gift how free!'T is only "ask,"—it shall be given;'T is only "knock," and thou shalt seeThe opening door that leads to heaven.
O then arise, and take the good,So full and freely proffered thee,Remembering that it cost the bloodOf Him who died on Calvary.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «367» (large) with the reference line «171, 64, 314.» in italics beside it (sing to the tune of hymn 171, 64 or 314), at the top of the right column of p. 121; four stanzas, then «Jared Waterbury.» in italics. The first word «INFINITE» is set in capitals and small capitals (its last small capital E is broken and prints like an F); it is written «Infinite» here. The stanza numbers are printed without a period («1» … «4»); they are written «1.» … here, as in the other deliveries of this book. Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented. The print sets a thin space before «!» and «;» («Love !», «us !», «sting ;», «grace !», «free !», «given ;») and inside the opening quotation marks («" ask,"», «" knock,"»); they are closed up here. The printer's curly apostrophes and quotation marks are written straight («'T is», «"ask,"»); «'T is» keeps the print's space after the apostrophe (the second «'T is» of stanza 3 is printed «' T is», with a space after the apostrophe too). «"ask,"—it» has a comma, closing quotation mark and em dash. No meter is printed (the text is L. M., like the referenced tunes). Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's.
