⤢ Full screenGrant me within thy courts a place,Among thy saints a seat,Forever to behold thy face,And worship at thy feet,—
In thy pavilion to abideWhen storms of trouble blow,And in thy tabernacle hide,Secure from every foe.
"Seek ye my face!" Without delay,When thus I hear thee speak,My heart would leap for joy, and say,"Thy face, Lord, will I seek."
Then leave me not when griefs assail,And earthly comforts flee; When father, mother, kindred fail,My God, remember me!
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «477» (large) with the reference line «399, 354, 204.» in italics beside it (sing to the tune of hymn 399, 354 or 204); the four stanzas stand in the left column of p. 154, below hymn 476 and «Isaac Watts.», with «James Montgomery» in italics after stanza 4 — printed WITHOUT a final point (see uncertainties.md). The first word «GRANT» is set in capitals and small capitals; written in ordinary type here. The stanza numbers are printed without a point («1» … «4»); written «1.» … here as in the other deliveries of this book. The print sets a thin space before «!» and «;» («face !», «flee ;», «me !»); it is closed up here. Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print (stanza 3, line 4 begins with an opening quotation mark that hangs to the left). No meter is printed (the text is C. M., 8.6.8.6, like the referenced tunes). Quotation marks are written straight. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's.
