Wherever two or three may meetTo worship in Thy name,As they approach thy mercy-seat,Thy promise they may claim.

Jesus in love will condescendTo bless the hallowed place; The Saviour will himself attend,And show his smiling face.

3

O blest assurance! gracious Lord,Thou Fount of peace and love,Fulfill to us thy precious word,Thy loving-kindness prove.

About this hymn

As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «478» (large) with the reference line «179, 147, 117.» in italics beside it (sing to the tune of hymn 179, 147 or 117); the three stanzas stand at the top of the right column of p. 154, with «Thomas Hastings.» in italics after stanza 3. The first word «WHEREVER» is set in capitals and small capitals; written in ordinary type here. The stanza numbers are printed without a point («1» … «3»); written «1.» … here as in the other deliveries of this book. The print sets a thin space before «;» and «!» («place ;», «assurance !»); it is closed up here, and the tight word spaces of «Thy name» and «Thou Fount» are written as ordinary spaces. Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print. No meter is printed (the text is C. M., 8.6.8.6, like the referenced tunes). Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's («Thy name» with a capital in stanza 1, «thy» elsewhere).
