⤢ Full screenFar from mortal cares retreating,Sordid hopes and vain desires,Here, our willing footsteps meeting,Every heart to heaven aspires. From the Fount of glory beaming,Light celestial cheers our eyes:'T is the grace of pardon streamingFrom the portals of the skies.
Who may share this great salvation?Every pure and humble mind,Every kindred, tongue, and nation,From the stains of guilt refined.Blessings all around bestowing,God withholds his care from none;Grace and truth are ever flowingFrom the fountain of his throne.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «500» (large) in the right column of p. 162, under «Henry F. Lyte.» of hymn 499, with the italic reference line «844, 503.» (= sing to the tunes of hymns 844 or 503) beside the number; two stanzas of eight lines, numbered «1» and «2»; «Anon» in italics after stanza 2, at the foot of the column (the period, if printed, is fused with the final «n» — see uncertainties.md). The first word «FAR» is set in capitals and small capitals. Lines 2, 4, 6, 8 of each stanza are indented. The print sets a thin space before «:», «;» and «?» («eyes :», «salvation ?», «none ;»); it is closed up here. No meter is printed (the text is 8s & 7s. D., like hymn 499 printed above it and like the two reference tunes). Spelling («'T is» with a space), punctuation and capitals («Fount») are the print's; apostrophes are written straight.
