Remark, my soul, the narrow bound

  • No. 553
  • Words Philip Doddridge.
  • 3 stanzas
  • Words only in the original
1

Remark, my soul, the narrow boundOf each revolving year; How swift the weeks complete their round! How short the months appear!

2

So fast eternity comes on,And that important dayWhen all that mortal life hath doneGod's judgment shall survey.

3

Awake, O God, my careless heartIts great concerns to see,That I may act the Christian's part,And give the years to thee.

No meter is printed (the text is C. M., like the three reference tunes). Where the print sets a thin space before «;» or «!» («year ;», «round !», «appear !»), it is closed up here. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's; apostrophes are written straight.
