In heavenly love abiding

  • No. 743
  • Words Anna L. Waring.
  • 3 stanzas
  • Words only in the original
1

In heavenly love abiding,No change my heart shall fear; And safe is such confiding,For nothing changes here. The storm may roar without me,My heart may low be laid,But God is round about me,And can I be dismayed?

2

Wherever he may guide me,No want shall turn me back;My Shepherd is beside me,And nothing can I lack. His wisdom ever waketh,His sight is never dim,He knows the way he taketh,And I will walk with him.

3

Green pastures are before me,Which yet I have not seen;Bright skies will soon be o'er me,Where darkest clouds have been.My hope I cannot measure,My path to life is free,My Saviour has my treasure,And he will walk with me.

About this hymn

As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «743» (large) at the head of the right column of p. 241, under the music of hymn 742 ELLACOMBE, with the italic reference line «833, 836.» beside it (= sing to the tunes of hymns 833 or 836; the first figure is ink-filled and reads like a 3 at 1×, see uncertainties.md); three stanzas of eight lines, numbered «1»–«3» without periods (written «1.»–«3.» here, as in the other deliveries of this book); lines 2, 4, 6, 8 of each stanza indented; «Anna L. Waring.» in italics, right-aligned, at the foot of the column. The first word «IN» is set in capitals and small capitals (written «In» here). No meter is printed (the text is 7.6.7.6.D., like ELLACOMBE above it and the two reference tunes). The print sets a thin space before «;» and «?» («fear ;», «dismayed ?», «back ;», «seen ;»); it is closed up here. Spelling («Saviour», «o'er»), punctuation and capitals are the print's.
