1

Great God, I own thy sentence just,And nature must decay;I yield my body to the dust,To dwell with fellow-clay.

2

Yet faith may triumph o'er the grave,And trample on the tombs; My great Redeemer ever lives,My God, my Saviour, comes.

3

The mighty conqueror shall appear,High on a royal seat; And death, the last of all our foes,Lie vanquished at his feet.

4

Then shall I see thy lovely faceWith strong, immortal eyes,And feast upon thy wondrous graceWith pleasure and surprise.

About this hymn

As printed As printed: running head «DEATH AND RESURRECTION.»; hymn number «937» (large), tune name «CHINA. C. M.» centred over the music (condensed capitals and small capitals), «TIMOTHY SWAN.» at the right (capitals and small capitals). Stanza 1 is interlinear, between the staves, one line per system, with «1.» before «Great» (see `lyrics_syllables.txt`); the hyphen of «fel - low-clay» between «low» and «clay» is set tight, the compound «fellow-clay», and is kept as such in the stanza. The reference line «933, 944.» (italic) stands under the music, above stanza 2 (= may also be sung to the tunes of hymns 933 NAOMI or 944 SPOHR, both C. M.); stanzas 2–4 are printed as text in the left column, numbered «2»–«4» without periods (written «2.»–«4.» here, as in the other deliveries of this book). «Isaac Watts.» in italics after stanza 4. The print sets a thin space before «;» («cay ;», «tombs ;», «seat ;»); it is closed up here. The apostrophe of «o'er» is written straight. Spelling («Saviour»), punctuation and capitals are the print's. Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print. The same tune and plate are printed for Hymn 326 (p. 108).
