⤢ Full screen"Go, preach my gospel," saith the Lord;"Bid the whole world my grace receive; He shall be saved who trusts my word,And they condemned who disbelieve.
"I 'll make your great commission known,And ye shall prove my gospel trueBy all the works that I have done,By all the wonders ye shall do.
"Teach all the nations my commands;I 'm with you till the world shall end;All power is vested in my hands;I can destroy, and I defend."
He spake, and light shone round his head;On a bright cloud to heaven he rode; They to the farthest nations spreadThe grace of their ascended Lord.
About this hymn
As printed As printed: running head «THE CHURCH—MINISTRY AND MISSIONS.» (hymn 1032 opens this subsection); hymn number «1032» (large), tune name «TRURO. L. M.» centred over the music (condensed capitals), «CHARLES BURNEY.» at the right in the composer slot (capitals and small capitals). Stanza 1 is interlinear, between the staves, one line per system, with «1.» before the opening quotation mark: «1. "Go, preach my gos-pel," saith the Lord; "Bid the whole world my grace receive;» under system 1 and «He shall be saved who trusts my word, And they condemned who dis - be - lieve.» under system 2 («receive» and «condemned» are printed as single words under their two notes). The reference line «212, 875, 301.» in italic figures stands centred over stanza 2 (sing also to the tunes of hymns 212, 875 or 301). Stanzas 2–4 are printed as text in the left column below the music, numbered «2»–«4» without periods (written «2.»–«4.» here, as in the other deliveries of this book); lines 2 and 4 are indented. Stanza 1 has no closing quotation mark (the Lord's words run on), stanza 2 opens with «"I 'll» and has none either, stanza 3 opens with «"Teach» and closes with «defend."» — all as printed. «I 'll» and «I 'm» are set with a space before the apostrophe and are kept so (as in HT_0171, HT_0398). «Isaac Watts.» in italics after stanza 4. The print sets a thin space before «;» («Lord ;», «receive ;», «commands ;», «end ;», «hands ;», «head ;», «rode ;»); it is closed up here. Curly quotation marks and apostrophes are written straight. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's. Pen annotations of the exemplar (a cut line at the top of the page, a note beside «1032», an underline under «TRURO.») are not part of the text.
