⤢ Full screenYe Christian heralds! go, proclaimSalvation through Immanuel's name;To distant climes the tidings bear,And plant the Rose of Sharon there.
He 'll shield you with a wall of fire,With flaming zeal your breast inspire,Bid raging winds their fury cease,And hush the tempest into peace.
And when our labors all are o'er,Then we shall meet to part no more,—Meet with the blood-bought throng, to fall,And crown our Jesus—Lord of all!
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «1035» (large) in the right column of p. 354, below hymn 1034 and «Johann J. Winkler.», with the reference line «136. 365, 47.» in italic figures beside it — a round stop, not a comma, after «136» (sing to the tunes of hymns 136 WARE, 365 MISSIONARY CHANT or 47 AMES, all L. M.; no meter is printed — the lines 8.8.8.8 are L. M.). Stanzas numbered «1»–«3» without periods (written «1.»–«3.» here, as in the other deliveries of this book); all four lines of each stanza stand at the same margin. The first word «YE» is set in a capital and small capital; written «Ye». «He 'll» (stanza 2) is set with a space before the apostrophe and is kept so (as «I 'll» in HT_0171, HT_0398). The print sets a thin space before «!» and «;» («heralds !», «name ;», «all !»); it is closed up here. Apostrophes are written straight («Immanuel's», «He 'll», «o'er»). «Anon.» in italics, right-aligned, after stanza 3. Spelling («labors»), punctuation (the dashes in «more,—» and «Jesus—Lord»; the hyphen of «blood-bought») and capitals are the print's.
