Words

Few in number, little flock,Safe beneath your guardian Rock;Fear not, arm you for the fight;God will bless you with his might.

If you faint not, you shall reap;Israel's God the seed doth keep;Brave the foe, proclaim the word,Sons and daughters of the Lord.

You who by the truth are sealed,By God's grace to you revealed,Should you dare to keep it back,You the rich reward may lack.

About this hymn

As printed As printed: hymn number «1052» (large), tune name «FISK. 7s.» centred over the music, «UNKNOWN.» at the right in capitals and small capitals (the composer field as printed). Stanza 1 is interlinear, between the staves of the two systems, with «1.» before «Few»; «num - ber», «lit - tle», «guard - ian» are hyphenated with spaces, «be-neath» is set tight with a hyphen, and «your guard» is set almost without a space (see `lyrics_syllables.txt`). The reference line «720, 407, 904.» in italic figures stands under the music, above stanza 2 (= may also be sung to the tunes of hymns 720 HOLLEY, 407 GRANNIS or 904 HENDON, all 7s.). Stanzas 2–3 are printed as text in two columns, numbered «2», «3» without periods (written «2.», «3.» here, as in the other deliveries of this book); unlike hymn 1051 above it, no line of these stanzas is indented, and stanza 1 is laid out the same way here. «Anon.» in italics, right-aligned, after stanza 3. The print sets a thin space before «;»; it is closed up here. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's.
