⤢ Full screenOur children, Lord, in faith and prayerWe now devote to thee:Let them thy covenant mercies share,And thy salvation see.
In early days their hearts secureFrom worldly snares, we pray; And let them to the end endureIn every righteous way.
Grant us before them, Lord, to liveIn holy faith and fear; And then to heaven do thou receive,And bring our children there.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «1074» (large) in the right column of p. 368, under hymn 1073 («Anon.»), with the reference line «80, 179, 395.» in italic figures beside it (sing to the tune of hymn 80 WOODLAND, 179 ORTONVILLE or 395 BALERMA, all C. M.). No meter is printed; the four lines 8.6.8.6 are C. M., like the three tunes. Stanzas numbered «1»–«3» without periods (written «1.»–«3.» here, as in the other deliveries of this book); lines 2 and 4 of each stanza indented. The first word «OUR» is set in capitals and small capitals; written «Our». A speck of this copy stands before «We» in stanza 1, line 2. The print sets a thin space before «:» and «;» («thee :», «pray ;», «fear ;»); it is closed up here. «Edward Bickersteth.» in italics after stanza 3. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's.
