⤢ Full screen"This is my body, which is given for you;Do this," he said, and brake, "remembering me."O Lamb of God, our Paschal offering true,To us the bread of life each moment be.
"This is my blood, for sin's remission shed,"He spake, and passed the cup of blessing round; So let us drink, and, on life's fullness fed,With heavenly joy each quickening pulse shall bound.
"The hour has come!" with us in peace sit down;Thine own we are, O love us to the end!Serve us our banquet, ere the night's dark frownVail from our sight the presence of our Friend.
Some will betray thee,—"Master, is it I?"Leaning upon thy love, we ask in fear,—Ourselves mistrusting, earnestly we cryTo thee, the strong, for strength, when sin is near.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «1123» (large) in the right column below hymn 1122's «Horatius Bonar.», with the italic reference line «249, 100.» on the same line (= sing to the tune of hymn 249 or 100, both «10s.»; no meter is printed with this hymn; the verse is 10.10.10.10). All four stanzas in the right column, then «C. L. Ford.» in italics, right-aligned, at the foot of the page. Stanzas numbered «1»–«4» without a period (written «1.»–«4.» here, as in the other deliveries of this book). The first word «THIS» (after the opening quotation mark) is set in capitals and small capitals; written «This». Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print (reproduced here). Lines too long for the column run over into an indented second line («"remember- / ing me."», «blessing / round;», «pulse / shall bound.», «sit / down;», «dark / frown», «our / Friend.», «sin / is near.»): each verse is one line here, and «remember- / ing» (a word broken only by the line end) is joined. The print sets a thin space before «;», «!» and «?»; it is closed up here. The printer's curly quotation marks and apostrophes are written straight («"This», «sin's», «life's»). Spelling and punctuation are the print's («brake», «Vail», «nights» without an apostrophe, «fullness»).
