1

These words, said the Master, "I'm coming again,"That with me my people forever may reign; That they may be ready my coming to see,I send forth my angels with messages three.

Chorus.

The Master is coming, he's coming for thee;O haste to be ready thy Master to see!The Master is coming, he's coming for thee;O haste to be ready thy Master to see!

2

The first with this message was sent through the land:"Fear God, and give glory; his Judgment's at hand; And worship the Maker of earth, sea, and sky,And the fountains of waters, who ruleth on high."

3

The second this message of woe did repeat:"The Church is not ready her Master to greet; She's fallen, backslidden, departed from Heav'n,And her love to earth's kings has unlawfully giv'n."

4

The third message follows, the last to be given,To point, once again, dying sinners to heav'n:"If any the beast or his image adore,On him shall God's judgments abide evermore."

5

The law of the Father, the faith of the Son,Must be kept by the Church all united as one;The mark of rebellion refuse to receive,Be sealed with God's seal, and eternally live.

About this hymn

As printed As printed: hymn number «1338» (large) at the left, title «The Three Messages.» centred (display capitals and small capitals); on the next line «G. W. PAGE.» (the words) at the left, the Scripture reference «Rev. 14: 6-12.» in the centre and «H. P. PIERCE, by per.» (the music, by permission) at the right; «CHORUS.» in bold capitals above system 4; folio «548» at the foot of PDF 549, no copyright line. The chorus runs on to the top of the next page (PDF 550, printed 549) under the heading «THE THREE MESSAGES.—Concluded.» (one system) with the same words again. No meter, no tune name other than the title, no reference line. The five stanzas are interlinear under the melody staff of systems 1–3, numbered «1.»–«5.» in system 1; the CHORUS is sung after every stanza. Each verse line is given on its own line here (the print runs them on under the music). The print sets a thin space before «;», «:» and «!»; it is closed up here. Words divided under the notes are joined («Mas - ter», «mes-sage», «Judg-ment's», «back - slid - den», «re-ceive», «ev - er-more», «read-y»…). Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's («given» and «giv'n», «Heav'n» and «heav'n», «Judgment's» but «judgments»); apostrophes and quotation marks are written straight. A manuscript note in ink across the top margin of PDF 549 («See 66? for Long Hymn on 3 Messages») belongs to the exemplar, not to the print, and is not transcribed here (see uncertainties.md).
