⤢ Full screenBe joyful in God, all ye lands of the earth;
O serve him with gladness and fear!
Exult in his presence with music and mirth,
With love and devotion draw near.
Jehovah is God, and Jehovah alone,
Creator and ruler o'er all;
And we are his people, his scepter we own,
His sheep, and we follow his call.
O, enter his gates with thanksgiving and song,
Your vows in his temple proclaim;
His praise with melodious accordance prolong,
And bless his adorable name.
For good is the Lord, inexpressibly good.
And we are the work of his hand;
His mercy and truth from eternity stood,
And shall to eternity stand,
About this hymn
As printed As printed: hymn number «46», tune name «THANKSGIVING. 11s & 8s.» centred over the music (capitals and small capitals), «F. E. BELDEN.» at the right (capitals and small capitals); running head «WORSHIP—PRAISE AND REVERENCE OF GOD.»; in the left margin, printed vertically and reading upward, «Copyrighted 1886 by F. E. Belden.». Stanza 1 is interlinear, between the staves, one line per system (an 11s and an 8s verse line per system), with «1.» before «Be». Stanzas 2–4 are printed as text in two columns below the music (stanza 3 runs from the left column into the right); there is no reference line (the hymn has its own tune). «James Montgomery.» in italics after stanza 4. The print sets a thin space before «;» and «!» («earth ;», «fear !», «all ;», «proclaim ;», «hand ;»); it is closed up here. «pro-» / «long» (stanza 3) is broken only by the end of the printed line and is joined. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's («scepter», «o'er», «O, enter»; stanza 4 line 1 ends with a full stop and the last line with a comma, as printed — see uncertainties.md); lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print.
