⤢ Full screenO God, how great thy glory is!
Thy wondrous ways, O who can know?
O hight immense! what words suffice
Thy countless attributes to show?
Greatness unspeakable is thine,—
Greatness whose undiminished ray,
When short-lived worlds are lost, shall shine,
When earth and heaven are fled away.
Unchangeable, all-perfect Lord,
Essential life's unbounded sea,
What lives and moves, lives by thy word;
It lives, and moves, and is, from thee.
High is thy power above all hight;
Whate'er thy will decrees, is done;
Thy wisdom, equal to thy might,
Only to thee, O God, is known!
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «55», reference line «64, 592, 108.» in italics (sing to the tune of hymn 64, 592 or 108); four numbered stanzas in the left column of p. 22 below hymn 54, «Ernest Lange.» in italics at the end. The opening «O GOD» is set with «GOD» in capitals and small capitals (the book's convention for the first words of a hymn). The print sets a thin space before «!», «?» and «;» («is !», «know ?», «immense !», «show ?», «word ;», «hight ;», «done ;», «known !»); it is closed up here. «shine,» (stanza 2, line 3) is carried over to a line of its own by the column width; it is joined here. Lines 2 and 4 of each stanza are indented in the print. Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's («hight», «thine,—», «short-lived», «all-perfect», «Whate'er»). No meter is printed (the text is L. M., 8.8.8.8).
