⤢ Full screenThus far we're spared again to meet
Before Jehovah's mercy-seat;
To seek his face, to sing and pray,
And hail another Sabbath-day.
Now met to praise his holy name,
Whose mercies flow each day the same,
Whose kind compassions never cease,
We seek instruction, pardon, peace.
Let every tongue its silence break,
Let every one his goodness speak,
Who deigns his glory to display
On each returning Sabbath-day.
About this hymn
As printed Words only. As printed: hymn number «218» (large) with the reference line «223, 101, 58.» in italics beside it (sing to the tune of hymn 223, 101 or 58); the whole hymn stands at the foot of the right column of p. 73, below hymn 217; «Anon.» in italics at the end. The first word «THUS» is set in capitals and small capitals. Any thin space the print sets before «;» is closed up here (convention). The printer's curly apostrophes are written straight («we're», «Jehovah's»). «mercy-seat» and «Sabbath-day» are hyphenated inside the line. The lines are set flush (no indentation). Spelling, punctuation and capitals are the print's. No meter is printed (the text is L. M., 8.8.8.8).
