⤢ Full screenLord, dismiss us with thy blessing,
Fill our hearts with joy and peace;
Let us each thy love possessing,
Triumph in redeeming grace;
O refresh us, O refresh us,
Traveling through this wilderness!
Thanks we give, and adoration,
For thy gospel's joyful sound;
May the fruits of thy salvation
In our hearts and lives abound;
May thy presence
With us evermore be found.
While our days on earth are lengthened,
May we give them, Lord, to thee;
Cheered by hope, and daily strengthened,
May we run, nor weary be,
Till thy glory
Without clouds in heaven we see.
About this hymn
As printed As printed: hymn number «283» (large), tune name «SICILY. 8s & 7s. 6L.» centred over the music (condensed capitals and small capitals), «SICILIAN.» at the right (capitals and small capitals); no reference line. Stanza 1 is interlinear, between the staves: «1. Lord, dis - miss us with thy bless - ing, Fill our hearts with joy and peace;» under system 1; under system 2, which is enclosed in repeat signs, two lines in braces, «{ Let us each thy love pos - sess - ing, Tri - umph in re - deeming grace; / O re - fresh us, O re - fresh us, Traveling through this wilderness! }» (first and second time). «deeming», «Traveling» and «wilderness» are printed unbroken under two or three notes. Stanzas 2–3 are printed as text in two columns below the music; «Fawcett & Kelly.» in italics after stanza 3. In the text stanzas, lines 2, 4 and 6 are indented and line 5 («May thy presence», «Till thy glory») more; stanza 1 is set here in the same pattern, its fifth line («O refresh us, O refresh us,») as printed under the staves. The print sets a thin space before «;» and «!» («peace ;», «grace ;», «wilderness !», «sound ;», «abound ;», «thee ;»); it is closed up here. The printer's curly apostrophe is written straight («gospel's»). Spelling («Traveling»), punctuation and capitals are the print's.
